The past 2 weeks have been interesting to say the least. Two weeks ago Brock and I went on a date, which ended in us deciding to move. WOW! Talk about spontaneous. I guess it was something that we had both thought about for a variety of reasons and after discussing it...what more can I say then we both felt like it was the right thing for our family at this time. With family in the real estate business, everything happened fast and smooth. Three days after we made the decision, we had a FOR SALE sign in our yard. As one can imagine...it did not take long before the phone started ringing and the rumors started spearding. When something feels right, you have to have faith and go with it. I have experienced this many times in my life and have always been blessed. So with faith we take this journey...not knowing where it will lead us.

Brynn was jumping the the trampoline at Grandma and Grandpa Wilks' last Sunday night with her cousins. Isaac came is yelling that Brynn was hurt. Brock carried her in and she cried and cried, stating that her left leg hurt. I could move it and saw no obvious deformities...therefore, I encouraged her to stop crying, sat her down on the couch and put some ice on it. I went to work shortly after that. Brock text me stating that he thought we should bring her in for an x-ray. She had not settled down in 3 hours and still would not put weight on it. I was reluctant....I am a ER nurse what can I say. However if Brock felt like we should get her checked I was on board. We did a x-ray outpatient, I love having friends in the business, and sure enough it was BROKEN!! Boy did I ever feel silly. Here I was thinking she was just being dramatic because she had a sleep deprived weekend. I put her in a splint and the next day we took her to her pediatrician. The fracture is stable, however due to the location she can not bear weight on it for 3 weeks and will be in her cast for 6 weeks. She has been a trooper, never complaining and very content. Her cast is PINK and goes from her upper thigh to the bottom of her toes. We carry her around everywhere and even have to help her use the restroom. Being 29 weeks pregnant and having a 18 month old this has been very interesting. However we are adjusting, well I might add. It is time for this mommy to get creative...any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

House update...Our house has been shown a dozen times in the 2 weeks it has been on the market. NO offers yet....but we are trying to be patient. We found a house last week that we both fell in love with. Great location, beautiful yard and below budget. We made a full price offer the day it came on the market, contingent on the selling of our house. We hoped and stressed all weekend only to find out on Monday that someone had came after us and made a full price offer, with no contingencies. So to sum it up we did not get the house. Monday was a bad day. My daughter just broke her leg and would be totally dependent for 3 weeks and we lost this house we loved. Although I have shed many tears over the matter, I feel peace that we will be led to our new destination when the time is right. For now I continue to keep my house in tip top shape never knowing then a Realtor might call and want to show it.....just another stresser I need now! ha ha!!

Spring Break

Our family enjoyed a couple of days in Salt Lake City for Spring break this year. There are not many things at beat staying in a hotel when you are a kid. The kids enjoyed jumping on the beds and exploring the room. Dallin took the tissues out one by one and carefully placed them in the garbage can. Brynn loved playing on the phones, and Isaac liked his unlimited access to cartoons. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and dinner at none other than McDonald's. Yes, this was a trip for the kids for sure. The next day we headed to Thanksgiving point to visit the dinosaur museum. Isaac has really been into dinosaurs. Every library book he brings home is about dinosaurs. We watched a 3-D movie. Dallin kept his glasses on the entire time. They kids really enjoyed the movie. There were lots of interactive things for the kids to do and overall we had a great afternoon.

It's a Boy!!! It's a Boy!!! It's a Boy!!! It's a Boy!!! It's a Boy!!!

We couldn't be more excited about another boy. The ultrasound was amazing. The little man twisting and turning...moving legs and arms. The detail of each part of its little body. So little and yet so perfect. We are excited for July 1st...the expected time of arrival of our new little man.

Brock and I picked up some BLUE balloons to take home to the kids. They were overjoyed. It wasn't until Isaac started to tease Brynn that her prediction was wrong and that she was going to be the only girl that she started to pout. However it didn't last long. I just told Brynn that it only meant that her and I would have to do lots of fun girl things together.

It feels like only a short time ago that I was being sealed to Brock for time and all eternity...then Isaac came a few years later. Now look at us....4 kids. The thought is crazy! However I cannot think of anything else that I would rather do with my time, or anywhere else in life I would rather be then right here!

~Isaac lost 2 teeth, thanks to Seth and the trampoline.

~Dallin learned how to walk!
~Laci learned how to blog.
~The Saville/Wilks vacation to Salt Lake City, enjoying Temple Square and Lagoon!
~Brock and the Funeral Home have been very sucessful, now starting our 3rd year!
~We enjoyed a night at Cedar Badge boys camp and the amazing Tetons.
~We finally got new family pictures!
~We are excited to announce that we are expecting baby # 4 this coming summer.

The JOY of the Season is...

What better to kick of the Christmas season then a Kindergarten program. It was fun to see you Isaac and classmates sing. I still can not believe that he is old enough to be doing half the things he does. He is a great student and big brother and we are so proud of him.

We stared out the our celebrations in Boise. We enjoyed a couple to days with the Huffaker's playing games, making train ornaments and just hanging out. One of my highlights was the midnight run with Kayla and Holly to Old Navy! We had a great Christmas Eve brunch and were able to see Lucas and Holly's new house before we made our way back home.

We came back from Boise on Christmas Eve. We made a quick transition and headed to the
Wilks for more fun! Brynn enjoyed taking photos with my camera. We had a white elephant exchange, opened gifts and visited Aunt LaNae for pie. It was a great night.

Barrett enjoyed giving Dallin rides in the shopping cart, and Dallin Loved it!

Santa found our house....

Brynn loved the make-up that Santa put in her stocking. She sported it all day. She also go the bouncing Baby Alive and doll accessories. She loved it.

Isaac was so fun. He excaimed multiple times Christmas day. "This is the BEST day of my life." He got Criss Cross Crash that he was so excited about. One of the best parts of the day is having dad play with him all day long!

Dallin was excited about everyone else being excited. He loved the balloon that I got him a week before Christmas. He was a joy, and enjoyed climbing on everyones laps to discover the new toys!

*We were very bless this Christmas Season. The biggest blessing is that we had family close by to share it with. We are very thankful for the love and support that we received from each of them.

*We also enjoyed teaching our children the most important part of Christmas....the Birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the reason we are here, we love Him and Praise Him as we honor Him this very special time of year.

October Fun

With October comes fall, and my most favorite things. I love the colors, the smells and the cooler temperatures. I love to spend time in the kitchen baking.
We had a fun and busy October. The month started out with my baby turning 1. I can hardly believe it. The past year has gone by soooo fast, and he is getting so big.
We can't forget Bronco Football. GO BSU! I love to dress the kids up in the BSU shirts sent to us by grandma and grandpa Huffaker!

We spent a fun weekend in Boise. Brock had lunch with one of his Brazilian companions that recently moved to the USA. I enjoyed lunch with the girls. We all went to Toy Story 3. The kids enjoyed playing with cousins and "swimming" in the hot tub. Oh, and how could I forget. I got to go on a date!! Brock and I went to the temple and ate at Tucanos, a Brazilian Grill. Grilled Pineapple yum yum.

My mom sent me home with a very large box of grapes from her garden....and her juicer. So for the first time I juiced grapes...and I juiced and I juiced. There was a lot. I made some jelly and bottled the rest. It is delicious.

We spent an afternoon with friends exploring our way through a local corn maze. The twists and turns and dead ends kept the kids entertained as we made our way to the exit.
Costumes are always fun to create. Brynn was a pirate princess and Isaac was Captain Hook. Dallin was Batman minus the mask! The kids had fun at the trunk or treat, and trick-or-treating in the neighborhoods. Brynn was a joy, exclaiming to all "thank you and Happy Halloween!"

It is hard to believe that it has been 8 years since we were married. It amazes me how time flies...now after a house, 2 degrees, 3 kids and a funeral home here we are. I am thankful for my eternal companion. Brock you are amazing. I couldn't ask for a better partner or father to my children. WE are very blessed.

Back to School

Isaac started kindergarten this year. He was so exctied. I have to admit I was a little reluctant. I have been struggling with the fact that other people will be influencing my little man other than us. The idea scares me to death. I just pray that we have given him the knowledge to make correct choices. We love him and are so excited for him to have this opportunity to learn and grow. This year Pocatello School District decided implement all day Kindergarten. Isaac has done very well although he does comment that "it is a long day."

Washington Elementary

Brock takes Isaac to school on his way to work. The bus comes at 7:14am and school doesn't start until 7:55. This allow for some extra zzzzz's. However Isaac rides the bus home from school. I was glad to see that he made it on the right bus and returned safely home from his first day of school.

Brynn started Preschool this year!! She was overjoyed to go to "Isaac's school." Ms. Kris is amazing and Brynn adapted very quickly. She has made great friends and loves to paint. She especially likes Josie and Suri and the opportunity to ride in their cars. I love carpools!

All tuckered out after school.

I must admit the routine of school has been good for our family. Early to bed and early to rise. The kids are doing great in school. I look forward to the daily report of: what was for snack/lunch, who got in the most trouble and if they got to play on the playground. Dallin and I enjoy 2.5 hours 2 times a week together, just the two of us. We sometimes nap, or hit the coupon sales for the week. We also just hang out on the floor and play. He is a true joy, and I cherish this time with him.

HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY Dad!!

August 26, 2010
In celebration of Dad's Birthday we went camping just north of Sun Valley. We had a chilly yet enjoyable time together! Mom and Dad in their new trailer and the rest of us bums in tents! We ate yummy food and took many trips to a near by gravel pit on the ATV's. It was our first and most likely only camping trip of the year....pathetic I know. Dallin was a trooper, being this was his first time.

I was lucky enough to score a date on this camping trip. Hurray for me! Brock and I rode 4-wheeler to Boulder City. It is about a hour ride on a 4-wheeler. Boulder City is a ghost town. It was a beautiful ride and amazing to contemplate the history. Here is what I have since learned.

~Boulder Basin is one of the most rugged but most beautiful spots in Idaho. Founded in 1910 it was believed to have the largest vein of radium worth over 3 million dollars at the time. However nothing was recorded stating its truth. The mine however did produce gold and radium It offers jagged rock ridges, multiple water falls, and beautiful mountain lake. There are old cabins scattered around the Basin as well as the old mill at the Golden Glow Mine. The tunnels of early miners can be seen high up on the rocky ridges of the basin. The road in is four-wheel territory only but the beauty of the Basin is well worth the trip.

Wilks~Saville Vacation 2010

We have been blessed to have our closest friends also be family. My sister Kayla and I married best friends, which has made for many fun times. We have tried every year since we were married to take a vacation together. We have many fun memories of these occasions. It is also a blessing that our children are the same ages.

This year we chose to go to Salt Lake City. We enjoyed touring temple square for the afternoon. The kids loved to push the buttons on the elevator. They were mesmerized by the Christus. We saw a wonderful presentation about the family. We also really enjoyed the new display of the Salt Lake temple found in the South visitors center.

LAGOON!!
Day 2 of the trip we enjoyed Lagoon. It was a lot of fun. Isaac and Brynn were very brave and went on every ride that their height would allow. Isaac loved the Bat, but didn't like Dracula's Castle. Brynn was proud she kept her eyes open through Dracula's Castle and Isaac didn't. Bumper cars were a big hit. It was very nice to have cousins there to share in the fun!

Hotel FUN!
The kids loved the hotel. Not only did we enjoy the swimming pool...Brock bargained and got us a jacuzzi suite for the same price as a regular room. So the huge tub was converted into our own private pool! The kids had a blast. (sorry cleaning lady)

I love to bake. I am always looking for fun new recipes to try. Here are my latest projects:

Raspberry Peach Jam

7 c. Peaches (about 15-16 peaches)
2 c. Fresh Raspberries - mashed
(rinse whole berries in cold water and freeze immediately
if not canning same day, to prevent mold.)
10 c. Sugar (about 4 lb.)
3 Small Boxes Raspberry Jell-0
Blanch peaches in boiling water for 60 seconds.
Put immediately in cold water and peel.
Halve and pit peaches.
Place in large bowl.
Squish with hands until peaches are in small chunks.
In a large pot, mix together raspberries, sugar and peaches.
Bring to a boil.
Boil for 20 minutes, while stirring constantly.
Remove from heat.
Add jell-o.
Stir until dissolved.
Pour into pint jars.
Water bath for 15 minutes.
Yields 7-8 pints.

Homemade Bread
4 1/2 cups warm water
2T yeast
1/2 cup sugar
2T salt
11-12 cups flour
6-8T oil
Combine warm water, sugar and yeast set aside for 10 minutes. Add 3-4 cups of flour and oil. Mix well. Add the remaining flour. Place in warm area. Allow to double in size. Shape into loaves and let double again. Bake for 25-30 min @ 350 degrees.
***I used half white and half wheat flour, it was yummy.

Breadsticks
This recipe is so easy and sooo good! They taste amazingly similar to the breadsticks at The Pizza Factory in Utah. http://www.favfamilyrecipes.com/ (Love this site!)

1½ cups warm water
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. yeast
Let that sit for 5 minutes. Then add:
3½ cups flour
1 tsp Salt

Mix until smooth then let raise for 10 minutes. Roll out dough into a large square on a floured surface. Brush with melted (real) butter mixed with garlic and then sprinkle with kosher salt. Fold in half and cut into 1 inch strips. Twist and place on a cooking sheet. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes to raise. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately after baking, brush with more garlic butter and sprinkle with kosher salt and grated parmesan cheese.

Serve with marinara, alfredo sauce, or ranch for dipping.

*Dough also makes a great pizza dough, just roll out into a large circle, add your favorite toppings, and bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.

A Quick History Lesson...
Silver City is a ghost town in Owyhee County, Idaho, United States. At its height in the 1880s it was a gold and silver mining town with a population of around 2,500 and approximately 75 businesses. Today, the town has about 70 standing buildings.

Silver City was founded in 1864 soon after silver was discovered at nearby War Eagle Mountain. The settlement grew quickly and was soon considered one of the major cities in Idaho Territory. The first daily newspaper and telegraph office in Idaho Territory were established in Silver City. The town was also among the first places in present-day Idaho to receive electric and telephone service.

Between 1863 and 1865, more than two hundred and fifty mines were in operation and hundreds more were developed thereafter. Through the seventy-odd years of mining, more than twelve ore-processing mills gleaned rich rewards in tons of gold and silver. Large stacks of gold and silver ingots were photographed for posterity. At the very least, sixty million dollars worth of precious metals were taken from the area. At today's prices, that amount would be even more impressive. At the present time, there are no major mines operating in the area.

A busy Summer called for a rather spontaneous getaway. Brock visited Silver City as a child and has always wanted to go back...so we went. We enjoyed hiking around, imagining what life was like for those who once lived there. Unfortunately most of the buildings were closed for viewing. We did make friends with a couple that owns the Masonic lodge and even got a private tour. We stayed and camped for a night, before we headed to Boise to visit grandma and grandpa!

Brynn, our little princess, turned 3 on June 29th. We are very thankful for our little girl and love her to pieces. Brynn can light up the room with her cute, witty personality. She is all girl! She loves to wear skirts, lots of braclets and flip flops. She likes most foods, so much that she holds some in her cheek for later. This is one of her trademarks since she began eating.

Brynn loves to sing and "read" books. Brynn never misses an opportunity to investigate any and all situations. Brynn is bubbly and likes most everyone she meets, but will not hesitate to tell you if she doesn't. She loves to ride her new pink bike up and down the street waving to all the neighbors. She is a great sister to her two brothers.

Her eyebrows set her apart and accentuate her beautiful brown eyes. Brynn becomes instant friends with anyone that has a mole and likes to compare theirs to hers. She is fascinated with Aunt JaNae's knee surgery scar and all other "injuries."

We love our little mischievous, bubbly, curious, stubborn, sassy, fun loving

We had the opportunity to visit Treasure Mountain, where I volunteered as a medical advisor for Cedar Badge boys camp. We were provided food and a small cabin to stay in. It was cold the first day there but that did not stop us from expoloring the beautiful area.

First Trampoline Trauma

We were just getting ready to sit down to a nice Sunday (Father's Day) dinner when screaming from outside lured Brock's attention. Isaac was on the trampoline and hurt. Brock carried Isaac in scared, crying and bleeding all over. First things first, I removed the white shirt! Next we attempted to settle our scared little boy down and assess the damage. Teeth were loose and gums were mangled. I immediately had Brock call our friend and dentist Lee Reddish. I felt horrible tracking him down on Father's Day, however isn't that what dentists are for?
Isaac lost his first tooth at the dentist's office that night. The other 3 were glued together hoping to stabilize and save. However, one of the front teeth developed an abscess and also had to be pulled a few days later. For now the other front tooth is holding strong. He is cute as can be with his toothless grin. He was a little trooper through the whole ordeal. The biggest worry that he had right after the injury is that he would not be able to eat ever again! What can I say, he takes after his mother. Isaac has decided that being hurt is not so bad after all.. he has received lots of visits from friends and an endless popsicle supply.

Dallin is a joy. He is our most easy going happy kid yet. Dallin is at a very fun stage of rolling all over the place and trying ever so hard to crawl. He love to eats and some days only will eat what he can feed himself! He loves his brother and sister and looks eagerly for them each time he wakes up. It is hard to believe that tomorrow he will be 8 months old.

School is out for the Summer!!

Preschool end of the year zoo trip. I currently have mixed emotions. I am so excited for summer, however thinking that Isaac will start Kindergarten and Brynn will be in preschool in the fall makes me want to stop the time clock. I can hardly believe it. How time flies. I am looking forward to this summer. I hope that it can be one of many fun and happy memories.

Isaac's Birthday began with preschool. Following school we went to McDonalds Playland for lunch and playing. We made a trip to Walmart were Isaac was able to spend the $5.00 his cousins sent him. He is now the proud owner of a black sports watch. We hung out at home until his party. Grandma and Grandpa Wilks and all the Wilks Aunts, Uncles and cousins enjoyed Pizza and Batman cake with Isaac for his birthday.

New Calling

I was recently called as the 1st counselor in the Primary Presidency.

I thought I would share my thoughts as I contemplated

P R I M A R Y!

First ...."I know very little about Primary." "Really me..isn't there someone else?" "There are lots of other women with more knowledge and experience."

Second ... WOW! This should be interesting. My experience seemed little, however when you consider that I was in the Primary for 10 years and served in nursery for 1 year and pianist for 1 year...oh how the years added up.

Third... I am excited to get to know the children...to utilize the information and ideas I gained from the wonderful and inspired Primary teachers I had growing up. I look forward to sharing my testimony of the gospel with the children and likewise eager to learn from theirs.

Oh, you have to love Pocatello!

Brock braved the cold, wind and snow to take the kids to the park for Grandpa's annual Gate City Real Estate Easter Egg Hunt. 20,000 eggs gone in a couple of minutes.

Who would have thought the turn out would be just as big as ever even with the white stuff all over the ground.

Brynn and Isaac were invited to a friends Birthday party. A Royal Gala. Isaac was the only boy, so he was deemed knight and loved every minute of his special role. Getting Brynn ready was so much fun. Doing her hair and putting on glitter. For me it was a small glimpse of future events that...will happen before I am ready I'm sure. What cute kids I have.

Valentine's Day

Just another day...with a little more love.

The day started out hectic getting ready for church...

Dallin of course got hungry so off to the mothers lounge I went. When I returned back to sit with the family kids were fighting and anxious to go to class. It was ward conference so 1.5 hours later they got their wish. I was all excited to sit with Brock after taking the kids to their Primary classes...oh wait he is in Young Mens and went with the youth. So I sat alone without my Valentine.

After church we gave the kids a little Valentine gift. Isaac scored a Ghostbuster shirt and Brynn a new dress (you can never have to many)!

We enjoyed a fun afternoon of coloring and playing games. Brock took the kids to pick up the limo. After a candle lite dinner lasagna, strawberry daiquiris and heart Jello Jigglers, Brock rushed out the door to drive some lucky couples on a romantic date in the limo. This left me alone again....to clean up dinner, pick up the house and get the kids to bed. Happy Valentine's Day!

Although I did not spend much time with Brock...it was a great day. We all went out of our way to express our love and appreciation for each other and that made today a great day!

A Visit to Santa

Although, unsuccessful, we still had a lot of fun elk hunting. We got snowed on, but stayed warm and dry. Steve and I took a trip on the four wheeler to a ghost town that was once a mining town. It was really interesting. Oh, and we had some big fires.

We took a road trip down to Las Vegas for the National Funeral Directors Association 2007 Convention and Expo. We were fortunate that Grandma Huffaker could come along to help watch Isaac and Brynn, while Laci and I went to some different classes. It was a great learning experience for me, and I was able to make a lot of great contacts. Not to mention see a lot of cool cars.

2007 Saville - Wilks Vacation

This year we decided on doing something a little more low key than the Oregon Coast Trip last year. We went and camped at Bear Lake and did the beach, Minnetonka Caves, Bloomington Lake and some other local attractions. We had a lot of fun!

We had plans to go to Boise, but I ended up really busy at work. So I drove Laci and the kids up earlier in the week, and then picked them up after my 4 funerals on Saturday.

Brynn's Blessing

We blessed Brynn on August 5th, and everything went really well. Laci's parents were able to make it down for the weekend. Her grandmother came down for the day, and Kayla and Steve were there as well. Unfortunately, Laci's brothers, Cody being on a mission and Lucas working in San Diego they were not able to make it.

The only one in my immediate family that wasn't able to make it was Blake, but Jason happened to have a scheduled trip from Oregon here this week so it was a good opportunity to have him stand in the circle.

This is what is affectionately known in the Huffaker family as the Blessing Slip. It was made in 1906, 101 years ago, for Laci's Great-great grandmother to be blessed in, and it has been passed down through 6 generations of baby blessings.

Table Rock Mountain

Thought I would post the happenings from this year's high adventure trip, with the young men. The actual trip was about 5 days, with Laci having had Brynn only two weeks before I thought it better to only go two of the days. So these are the days that I was there.

The first day I was there we climbed Table Rock Mountain. At an elevation of 11, 106 feet, it provided a great view of The Grand Teton. It was a pretty intense hike. We started about 7:30 in the morning and I think we finished it around 4:00 or 5:00 that afternoon. Thankfully everybody made it safely to the top, and safely back again.

The next day we spent it mountain biking at the Grand Targhee Ski Resort. We rode the ski lift to the top and then rode our bikes back down to the basin.

The road down proved to be a little tricky just because of all the loose rock on the road and how steep it got. We had a lot of fun, and were able to do this a 3 or 4 times throughout the day. After words we took some time to rest in the shade down by the lodge.

The Story of Brynn's Birth

Laci was overdue with Isaac by about six days. So Laci and I were sort of expecting the same time line with Brynn. Laci's due date was June 28th so we were expecting a baby around the first of July. Laci was scheduled to work on the 28th and she felt pretty good all that day, but was having some cramping. She went in to work at about 7:00 pm and shortly after that the contractions started getting more painful and more frequent. Being as stubborn as she is she waited until they were just unbearable until her co-workers finally convinced her that she needed to go upstairs to the labor and delivery.

So I got a call at home around 9:30, and I had just put Isaac down for the night and Laci told me that she was getting checked out, but that I should probably call my parent's to come over and watch Isaac so that I could go to the hospital. No sooner than I hung up the phone with my parents than Laci called again saying, "Did you get a hold of your parents? The doctor came in and broke my water so you should probably come as soon as you can."

Well that got me all excited and I started scurrying around the house grabbing Laci's bag that hadn't really been put together all that well yet (after all we weren't expecting the baby for a couple more days). I was so anxious to get to the hospital that I couldn't wait for my parents any longer, so I employed the services of our downstairs tenant, Ben & Mel, to sit with Isaac until my parent's could get there.

The labor went really well. Laci only had to push twice before Brynn was delivered at 12:37 am. Once again Laci's mom didn't make it all the way from Boise in time for the delivery. She was about to American Falls when the baby arrived.

We were and are happy to have her safely. Unfortunately because of things going on at work I wasn't able to take much time off. In fact I needed to be at the funeral home that same morning to meet with a family that I had been working with. So it wasn't until that Monday that I actually got to spend a full day, without going into the funeral home, with the family.

It wasn't until the night before we left the hospital that we were able to decide on a name. Nothing really seemed to fit. Laci found the name Brynn and we both really liked it. The name Ella came about when my wife stumbled upon my grandfather's obituary and his mom's name was Ella. So we finally decided on Brynn Ella Wilks.

Isaac is doing great with the new addition. He likes to give her kisses on the head, sometimes those kisses can be quite rough. So far he's a pretty good big brother and can be a little too helpful at times.
